How to request a holds pickup at the Locker
- Visit the Library Catalog or call (970) 728-4519 to request library materials
- Select Wilkinson Public Library – Lawson Lockers as the pickup location
- You will get an email when your items are ready for pick up
How to pick up holds at the Locker
- At the locker select ‘Holds Pick-up’ on the touch screen and enter your library card number. You can either scan your card or type the number in.
- Your locker will pop open and the items inside will be checked out to you.
- Please remove all items and then close the locker. Do not leave any returns in the locker – use the returns bin next to the locker to return items.
- Select ‘email receipt’ or ‘no receipt’ and ‘Finish’ to complete your transaction.
- We will hold your items in the locker for up to 8 days.
- If you have trouble opening the locker, please call the library at 970-728-4519.
How to return items
- Returns can be dropped in the book return next to the locker or returned to the library.
- There are also book returns at the M&M Mercantile in Placerville and at the library vending machine at the Village Market in Mountain Village.

How do I change the language on the locker screen?
From the login screen, select the Español button on the bottom left.

Can I pick up Prospector holds at the Holds Locker?
At this time, it is not possible to pick up Prospector holds at the Holds Locker. You may pick up Prospector items from the hold shelf inside the library.

What if I don't know my library card number?
Call us at 970-728-4519 and we can tell you your card number.

Can I use my barcode that is stored in a wallet app or a photo on my phone?
Yes, you should be able to scan a barcode from your phone. If scanning doesn’t work, you can enter the number using the touch pad.

What if I can't get the scanner to read the number from my library card or phone?
If you have trouble scanning a barcode just type the number in on the touch pad.

What if I can't make it to the library to pick up my items within the 8 day window?
The hold on your items will expire and the items will be cleared from the locker after 8 days. Expired holds are cleared on a daily basis.

Can my pick up window be extended?
Depending on the space available in the lockers, we might be able to extend the window. Call us at 970-728-4519 to ask.

How many items will fit in a locker?
About 6 items can be reserved for each locker. Bigger unusual items, like rakes and guitars, will not fit in the lockers and will have to be picked up at the library.

What if I enter my card number but the message on the screen says the checkout was unsuccessful?
During library hours, please call us at 970-728-4519. After hours, please leave a detailed voicemail.

Can I pick up large unusual items at the Holds Locker?
No, larger unusual items won’t fit in the lockers and will need to be picked up at the library. Staff will notify you if your items are too large for a locker and need to be picked up inside the library instead.
Some unusual items, like hotspots and chromebooks, cannot be picked up at the lockers because hot or cold temperatures could damage the items.

Will I get my holds sooner if I choose a locker pickup?
It will take longer for your hold to be processed since we have to bring items to the lockers. If you need your hold asap, please place a hold for pickup inside the library.

Can I use the lockers to return items?
No, returned items cannot be placed in the lockers. Please use the book drop located right next to the lockers.

What if I didn't bring my library card to the locker?
No problem! You don’t need to have your physical library card with you, you just need to know you card number so you can type it. You can keep a picture of your card on your phone.

You’ll be notified by email when your item is ready for pickup. You’ll have 8 days to pick it up. If you don’t pick up the items within the 8-day period, we will bring the items back to the library.
