Visual Access Workstation Equipment

Windows 10 Accessibility Features on Public Computers

  • Narrator reads text as you type.
  • Magnifier not only allows user to change zoom level but also invert colors in magnified areas (whole screen or mouse only)
  • High Contrast allows for the overall color scheme to change.
  • Closed Captions provides subtitles to videos as well as ability to alter the colors and backgrounds of any closed-captioned text.
  • Keyboard offers a variety of customization options to allow for an on-screen keyboard, sticky keys, filter keys, and toggle keys.
  • Color Filters can alter a screen’s color palette for light sensitivity or colorblindness.
  • Cursor & Pointer resizes and/or alters color to improve viewing

  • We offer a variety of reading glasses and magnifying glasses at the front desk.
  • We have a reader pen available for checkout. It can scan text and read aloud through a website and translate.

Accommodations Available in Our Collections (library card required for checkout)

  • Read Along Books with Audio and Book/Audiobook Match

    • Read Along Books have an attached speaker on the inside of the front cover. Find them near the children’s audiobooks, starting with call number ‘J READ ALONG’. Books and audiobooks are packaged together, under the call number ‘J BOOK & PLAYAWAY’. Empower children with language-based learning differences the opportunity to read and listen to popular titles simultaneously.
  • OverDrive/Libby eBooks and Audio Books

    • Enable dyslexic font on the Libby website or in the app
    • Change the font size and style in the Libby app
    • Download audiobooks in MP3 format for the best experience for users who are visually impaired
  • Kanopy Streaming Video

    • Enable closed captions, subtitles, and transcripts
    • Option to request closed captions for titles that do not provide them
    • Use Kanopy’s website or app with screen reader technologies on desktop browsers, and iOS and Android devices
  • Hoopla Ebooks and Streaming Video

    • Zoom in on text using the app or on the Hoopla website
    • Enable subtitles using the app or on the Hoopla website

Other Special Services

  • Curbside Pickup

    • WPL offers curbside service for reserved materials during regular library hours. When you receive notice that your materials are ready and you have arrived at the library, please give us a call at 970-728-4519 and we can bring your items out to you.
  • Service Animals

    • WPL welcomes service animals in the library in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Colorado law.
    • Pets, companion, assistance, emotional support, and therapy animals are not permitted in the library. Unattended animals are not permitted on library property.
  • Colorado Talking Book Library (CTBL)

    • For people who can’t read standard print, CTBL provides audio, Braille, large print books, and equipment keeping people connected to reading, stories, and adventure. WPL staff are able to help patrons access the CTBL application and materials can either be sent directly to patron’s home or through the library. Medical or educational provider must certify CTBL eligibility application for service.
